Concert organist, Brendon Lukin is Director of Music at St David’s Uniting Church, Geelong and a full time member Royal Australian Air Force Band.
Before returning to Australia, Brendon was based for 12 months in Karlsruhe, Germany, two and a half years in Chicago – USA as organist at the Fullerton Avenue Presbyterian Church and 18 months in Eskilstuna – Sweden as a full-time Cantor and Organist, where he gained valuable experience as a choral conductor, concert manager and recitalist.
Since moving to Geelong, he has appeared at the Organs of the Ballarat Goldfields, Warrnambool Organ Festival, Geelong Keyboard Festival, Geelong After Dark, Music of the Basilica – Geelong, Last Night of Proms – Terang, Queenscliff Uniting Church, Barwon Heads Music Club, Geelong Summer Music Camp, St Paul’s Anglican Church – Camperdown and
with National Boys Choir, Cantalation, Synergy Percussion, Sydney Philharmonia and with Sydney Symphony under Vladimir Asheknatzy.
This year Brendon appeared along-side Radio and Television identity Red Symons as narator, performing the organ version of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. The audience numbered over 500!
Brendon has also performed along side Chicago Symphony Chorus, Malaysian Philharmonic, and Singapore Symphony. As a tuba player he has performed professionally with most of the Australia’s Symphony and Opera/Ballet Orchestras and on two National Tours with the Australian Chamber Orchestra under Richard Tognetti.
Internationally, Brendon has toured Indonesia with the Tasmanian Symphony under Richard Mills and Europe and USA with New World Symphony, Miama Beach under Michael Tilson Thomas.
In Australia, Brendon has performed at most of Australia’s major venues including the Hamer Hall, Melbourne Town Hall, St Paul’s Cathedral, Sydney Opera House, Sydney Town Hall (alongside Roger Woodward), Sydney University, Hobart Town Hall, Universities of Tasmania and Newcastle. He has broadcast live and recorded for Radio ABC Classic FM, Radio Sweden, 2MBS and 3MBS. Brendon has also been involved several creative projects including the revival of the Rock Band Sky arranged for Drums and two Hammond Organs, Organ and Didgeridoo, organ and fireworks and Wurlitzer organ accompanying Australian Silent films.
As a result of his work with Media, Brendon has an extensive contact base throughout Australia, Asia, Europe and USA.
Brendon has a passion developing the Arts in regional Victoria and in particular promoting and teaching the organ to young people utilizing the Suzuki Music Victoria. In Warrnambool he has directed the establishment of the largest organ scholarship program in Australia!
He is particularly skilled at networking and building philanthropic, commercial and artistic collaborations and brings 26 years of professional experience as an organist in the arts industry.
Based in the small rural community of Wallington on the Bellarine Peninsular Central WesternVictoria, Brendon co-owns and runs a successful Alpaca Stud with his wife (and professional singer), Catherine Lukin and 14 year old son, Dominic.
